The Global Curriculum

In line with the new national curriculum which was introduced in September 2014, we follow the Global Curriculum; a skills based approach for outstanding learning. This involves classes studying two countries during an academic year. As a new country is introduced, the classroom is transformed and an interactive experience such as a visit or a guest speaker is used to stimulate the children’s interest and enthusiasm for learning.

The skills for each subject are taught with the country as a focus and the topic ends with an enterprise project based around an area of work covered. Numeracy will be taught as a discreet subject, in line with the new curriculum. We introduced our first countries in January 2015.

Symphony Assessment will be used alongside the Global Curriculum to assess the children without the use of levels, in line with new government requirements.

The Global Curriculum, is supported by a guide book, a copy of which can be downloaded from the side of this page. The Global Curriculum is explained  within this document which covers most subjects of the curriculum across all Key Stages of the school.
