Arrangements for New Reception Pupils Joining Overstone Primary School.
When your child is allocated a place here at Overstone, they are invited to come into school for two “stay and play” sessions in the summer term, before the summer holidays. We also welcome you to come in for one of these sessions to join myself and other Reception parents and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. This is a good opportunity to informally ask any questions you might have too.
Pupils then receive a visit at home at the beginning of the Autumn term in September. This enables the Reception staff to meet your child in their own environment where they feel comfortable. Following this, we welcome the children into school part time for a week when they go home after lunch. They then start school full time.
If any child finds it difficult to settle initially, we will of course work with you as parents/carers to ensure a smooth transition into school for them.
It is always a pleasure to welcome the new Reception pupils and their families into our school community. It is our aim to make your child’s transition into primary school as smooth as possible and to ensure their experience of school life is exciting and happy from the start.
