Remote Learning Provision at Overstone Primary School
As a staff, we are committed to providing high quality remote learning for all pupils. We appreciate that parents and carers have other commitments at home that make home learning challenging. Their job is not to be the teacher but to facilitate the learning for their child/ren. We aim to provide teacher contact through recorded and live sessions which will help pupils to feel more connected with school and which will motivate them to continue to be engaged with their learning.
In accordance with DfE guidance, the minimum expectation regarding the amount of time children spend on their learning is as follows:
Key Stage 2 (years 3, 4, 5 and 6); 4 hours a day
Year 2; 3 hours a day
Year 1; 2-3 hours a day
Reception; 2-3 hour a day
Below is an outline of the remote learning provision here at Overstone Primary School. Our aim is to make this as consistent as we can, ensuring all pupils access as much of their curriculum as possible.
Class teachers will upload a learning plan or timetable to Google Classroom (Tapestry for Reception children) on a Friday afternoon. This will give parents and children an overview of the learning that will take place the following week. Reception and Year 1 staff will upload the children’s learning on Monday morning for the week. Staff in years 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 will upload their work daily
All class teachers or support staff will have visual contact with pupils at least 2-3 times per week. This may be through a live or a recorded session.
We will work together with families to support the children’s learning. Pupils and parents/carers are able to email the class teacher for advice and support during the school day. As a school, we also offer support regarding access to hardware. Paper packs will be available for pupils where appropriate and phonics and reading materials supplied.
By providing high quality remote education for pupils during periods where they are required to learn from home, we aim to ensure every child has full access to the curriculum.
